Six ways to keep pet costs in order

Each service covers one part of tracking what your animals cost. Pick one or combine several. Prices are listed in pounds sterling.

Expense Logging

Record every purchase for your pets in a few taps. Choose a category such as food, litter, toys, grooming or vet fees, add the amount and attach a photo of the receipt if you wish. Entries sort by date and by animal, so a household with a dog and two cats can see who costs what. You can edit or delete an entry at any time. The app works offline and syncs when your phone reconnects. Monthly totals appear on the main screen, with a simple bar chart that compares the current month to the previous one. Data stays on your account and can be exported to a spreadsheet whenever you need it.

Monthly Budget Planner

Set a spending limit for each category and for each animal. The planner shows how much of the limit you have used and how many days remain in the month. When you pass 80 percent of a limit, the app sends a quiet notice. You can carry unused money into the next month or reset the limit to zero. Budgets can be copied from one month to the next, which saves time if your costs are steady. A summary screen compares planned and actual spending side by side. The planner suits households that want to see costs before they happen, not after.

Reminders for Recurring Costs

Some pet costs repeat on a schedule. Flea treatment every month, insurance every year, a booster vaccination every twelve months. Add each one once and the app creates a reminder a few days before the due date. You can set the lead time yourself, from one day to two weeks. When you confirm payment, the amount is logged automatically and the next reminder is scheduled. Reminders can be shared with another member of your household, so two people do not buy the same thing twice. Notifications are short and carry no advertising.

Shared Household Access

Pets are often looked after by more than one person. This service lets up to five people add expenses to the same pet profiles. Each entry shows who made it, so partners, flatmates or family members can see where the money went. You decide who can only view and who can edit. If someone leaves the household, you remove their access in one step and their past entries remain in the history. There is no need to split receipts by hand at the end of the month. A settle-up screen shows who has paid more and by how much.

Cost Reports and Export

Turn your entries into clear reports. Choose a period, such as the last three months or a full year, and select the animals to include. The report lists totals by category, shows the average monthly cost and marks the most expensive month. Export it as a PDF to keep on file or as a CSV file to open in a spreadsheet. Reports are useful when you compare insurance quotes, plan a move or decide whether to adopt another animal. They contain only the data you entered and are generated on your device in a few seconds.

Setup Help Session

If you would rather not start alone, book a one-to-one session with a member of the Xoruwu team. Together you create your pet profiles, set up categories that match your habits and enter your first month of expenses. The session lasts about 45 minutes and takes place by phone or video call. We can also move data from a notebook or spreadsheet into the app. You leave with a working setup and a short written guide for your own household. The team replies to booking requests within about 8 hours on working days.
